On the road in coal country

I was in coal country again today. First I stopped in Shamokin, Pa. I was looking for an abandoned mine when I stumbled across this building:

Afterwards I continued on into Centralia. If you're not familiar with the history of this ghost town you can read more about it here. I also posted a photo previously on this blog. Here is the first house you see as you enter Centralia from the north:

Yes, that is a hunk of coal the flag pole is mounted into.
